Art at Home (And a Giveaway!)

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Our boys are out of school this week for mid-winter break. I'm looking forward to spending time with them, and also not having to set the alarm! (Can I get an amen?!)

A little later in the post, I'll tell you how you can enter to win this beautiful original painting of a bridge in southeast England...

But first, I wanted to write about what art at home looks like for us, and ask what art looks like in your home. These days, while our children are young, art in our home involves masterpieces like these:

And a stairway becomes a gallery of some of our cherished moments with family...

We have a few paintings, like this snowy scene, that we hang each winter...

And I love old signs... or DIY vintage-inspired signs like this one in our kitchen...

What art do you use in your home? Do you have any unique ways of displaying your art? What pieces speak to you? I'd love to hear!

And now, a little more about the painting that could be yours...

Cynthia Weber has donated, from her private collection, a beautiful original painting titled, "Bridge Near the Bodiam Castle" by renown artist Peter Etril Snyder!  Valued at $700.00 CAD the 9” x 13” piece will be shipped to the lucky winner unframed.

The artist's notes on this beautiful piece: "Over four months in Kent in 1998 made me very conscious of all the red brick building in the southeast area of England. This small bridge is a Victorian structure located near Bodiam Castle. It presents a new and colourful contrast to the soft gray/beige of the ancient stone castle. Here in North America it is difficult to think of a building that has survived for one hundred and fifty years as new, but in a land that displays items from Roman times, this bridge is gleamingly new."

Cynthia and her husband Kent run their custom interiors business, Cynthia Weber Design, from a BannockBurn 1878 historic stone home in Ontario Canada. In addition to providing design services for residential, cottage and commercial clients, she also shares snapshots of both client projects and their personal journey restoring their home and expanding the gardens on their blog. Both the blog and information about working with Cynthia in a design capacity can be found here
